The road ahead
The road ahead is not a pretty one. Not only am I setting out to completely change an international company's web operation without a budget, I am also going to try to write about it in a sensible way. If you're looking for a quick fix to help your development team then I'll see you in about two years, which is roughly the timescale I've set to get "mature". If you want to follow my progress, or more likely lack of, then get the RSS feed into bloglines and laugh at my failure and eventual redundancy.
Full Fat Things
Full Fat Things is my company. Leveraging my many years experience building very scalable sites for publishers I have set up Full Fat Things.
I make sites Drupal (and other) sites go super fast with database tuning, proxy caching implementations, CDN installations, converting to Pressflow from Drupal and good old fashioned code reviews for optimisation. Additionally we consult on development practices to help you make your developers more productive!
Geosay
geosay is a site I built with @dansingerman. It is a free super-local information service for finding out what people are saying, and have said, right where you are. Content is ordered by nearest, not most recent. As well as having content native to the platform, it also aggregates data from Twitter and Foursquare and we plan to add other services. Mobile users get a version customised for that platform.
Project Red Stripe

Project Red Stripe was a six-member team comprised of The Economist Group's employees that was brought together with the task of creating an innovative and web-based product, service or business model by July 2007.
